12-19-2011
Good evening everyone,
The bite is still CRAZY!!! We are fishing a little deeper now, in depths of 22-26 feet of water with a mix of nice walleye's and 14-16 inch sauger.  The ice conditions are getting better with 12 inches of ice. There are pressure cracks on the lake, so check with the resorts for updates. We are checking ice conditions frequently, as we move to deeper water. Temperatures are still warm and looks like it will be a nice Holiday weekend.
Please stay safe and have fun fishing!!!
Merry Christmas!  Bob and Wanda

12-14-2011
Good Morning,
Fishing has finally started with our houses, this is our third day of fishing and it's been UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!  We have had a lot of guests fishing the last two day's and have had limits of nice  walleye and sauger.  We are fishing in 18-22 feet of water with 10 inches of ice.  Guests have been catching up to 150 fish per house, they have thrown back 30-40 slot fish a day.  Everyone is extremely happy, which makes our job easier.  It has been warm and we still have no snow, the forecast this week looks average for temps.   We have openings in the next couple of weeks, so give us a call, the fish are waiting for you.
Stay safe, check with your local resorts for ice reports.
Thanks Bob and Wanda

Good evening!!
Bob, Mike, and Dusty started pulling houses on the lake today.  There is 8 inches of ice on the clear, flat ice and on the white ice off of shore there is 8-10 inches. Bostic Bay has about 10 inches on it.  There are a lot of portables up this weekend and the guy's talked to some fishermen and the bite is AWESOME!!  We are starting to fish guests in our houses on Monday.  It is supposed to be below zero again tonight and then warm up a bit.  With no snow cover on the lake, it is very slippery. The forecast doesn't predict much snow either.
Talk to you soon, stay safe the lake has only been froze a week tomorrow.
Good luck fishing!!!  Bob and Wanda

12-7-2011
Bob and Dusty were out this morning to check ice again, the bay has made a couple more inches, there is anywhere from 7-9 inches on Bostic.  We had the bomber crossing opened up today by Mark LaValla with the big back hoe and staked our road out to 21 feet of water. The white ice from shore out to 16 feet is between 8-9 inches thick, BUT NOT GOOD ICE!!! We made our trail to start to pull houses on. From 16-21 feet the ice is clear, solid ice--6inches max.  Should be good for houses when we start to pull them out on Saturday.  Hopefully it should be 8-9 inches by then.  We are starting to fish our guests on Monday. Watch for future updates! We have cabins available for next weekend.
Stay safe and good luck fishing!!!!!

12-5-2011
Good evening,
Bob and Mike were out checking ice conditions this morning. Bostic Creek to the lake has between 6-7 inches of ice, with a couple of thinner patches that have 4 inches. We have marked our trail from the road to the crossing up on the lake. The big lake has about a quarter mile of white, blow-in ice that is between 3-4 inches thick. Beyond that, there is a crack that is open about 3-4 feet wide, so we couldn't check beyond that, although it looked only a couple inches thick. Looking with field glasses, there were pockets of smooth and broke-up ice. The next few nights are supposed to be somewhere between 5-10 below, so that should help the ice conditions. Hopefully we are fishing with our fish houses by sometime next week! Watch for further updates within the next few days.

Thanks,
Bob & Wanda

Good morning,
As of today there is still no ice on the big lake, though Bostic Creek has had ice on for a couple of weeks.  As you all know temperatures have been too warm this fall and start of the winter.  We are all anxious for the winter season to start, but the safety of our customers and our help is our main concern.
We will checking is conditions on Bostic and up into Four Mile Bay on Mon, Dec 5.  Temperatures are supposed to drop to below zero the middle of next week, so this will help freeze the lake.  It is ready to freeze it just needs the below zero temps.
We will report to you on Monday.
Thanks--Bob and Wanda

Good afternoon,  (11-18-2011)
We are making ice, Bostic Creek is frozen to the mouth of Four Mile Bay and the bay leading into Morris Point is froze, but the ice is far from safe yet.  We have had some snow the last couple of day's.  We are supposed to be warmer though during Thanksgiving.  Water is coming up around the edges and flooding the surface because of the strong North winds.  The ice is not safe to be on as of now.  The lake is getting ready to freeze as there is slush floating along the shore lines.  Hopefully the winds will be calm and we will get colder weather...
We will report more info in a few days...
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!   Bob and Wanda

 Good Saturday Morning,
It is overcast/partly sunny  today with light rain falling.  Fishing has been great all week.  Nice size walleyes have been caught and released as the bigger fish seem to be moving in.  Our guests have caught a lot of 15-18 inch fish,  great for eating.
We have been fishing around Morris Point gap and along the face of Pine Island in 12-24 ft of water.  We are also drifting or trolling with hammered gold spinners and leeches. Though the jigging with fat heads is working well too.
We have a few openings in early and late June, so come for fishing and relaxing.
Don't forget about our dining room specials and our Friday night Taco's.
Have a great Memorial weekend, hope  you all can get out fishing and enjoy the sunshine!!!

Good morning!!
We had a great fishing opener, the weather was cool and windy, but the fish were biting.  Sunday and Monday were beautiful, yesterday we had 71 degrees and plenty of sunshine all day.  Everyone is happy !!
Our guests are in 10-18 ft of water, fishing from Morris Pt gap all the way down Pine Island to Lighthouse gap.  They are catching 15-17 inch walleyes and some bigger females in the slot.  They are fishing with fat heads, a few night crawlers and frozen shiners.  Some are jigging and drifting or trolling spinners.  It seems anything works.
We have some cabin opennings coming up.  Stop in for our new homemade pizza's or our Friday night taco's.  Also watch for our other nightly specials coming starting June 1.
ENJOY YOUR DAY!!   GOOD LUCK FISHING!!
Until next time....

I am sorry it's been weeks that we have not reported on fishing, though not much has changed.  Fishing is fair, with a lot of little fish being caught.  We have had more snow and colder weather too, we hope the ground hog doesn't see his shadow on Wednesday or we will have 6 more weeks of winter.  We are expecting below zero temps through Wednesday, then it is supposed to be in the teens.  We are still fishing in 28-31 feet of water.
We have some openings for this weekend, enjoy the Superbowl!!
Talk to you soon!

Good Morning, it's Saturday, January 8, 2011
Fishing was awesome yesterday!!!!  We had great numbers, though a lot of the catch were sauger.(70% sauger & 30% walleye).  Still fishing in 28-30 feet of water.  Friday the winds were 15-30 mph out of the NW and today it's -15, but clear and sunny.  The weather has been stable for the last three days, maybe this helped the fish to start biting.
Ice conditions are great too,  25-26 inches.  Travel conditions are changing on the lake with all the snow we have had, so you may have to use one of the resorts plowed roads or take bomber transportation out of the resorts.
Hey, this is a special message for Stephen, Bob can't believe the black widow beat you at pool :(

Go Bears!!!!!! (Still owe your bet, too)

Hello, it's Thursday, January 6, 2011
Wow time flies.  This past weekend and Mon and Tues of this week has been pretty consistant fishing, though the weather has been up and down.   Temps this A.M. were -25 below and clouded over and then started to warm up.  Our fish houses are still in 28-30 feet of water.  We are gearing up for a busy weekend, so we hope fishing picks up.
Will let you know tomorrow how fishing is.
Happy fishing!!! Stay safe.
Bob and Wanda

Good Morning, it's Tuesday, December 28
We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
Fishing yesterday was slow to start, but thankfully ended with good numbers of walleye and sauger.
Hopefully today will be a better start.  The temperature is around 20 above, quite warm for this time of year.  We are now fishing between 28-31 feet of water, which is deeper than we are usually fishing this time of year.  Keeping the jig moving has seen the best action too.  The bigger walleye are suspended 10-12 feet off the bottom.  Ice conditions are 20-22 inches.  Vehicle traffic, 4-wheeler or snowmobile are all being used to get around on the lake.
Watch as conditions may change with the upcoming snow storm that is supposed to hit on Thursday and Friday.
We have some openings for the New Year's weekend, give us a call.
Good luck fishig!! Stay safe!!

Good evening, it's Tuesday, Dec. 21
The weekend was good to fair for most of our fishermen and women.  Some did better on Sunday, with a lot of slot fish caught again.  We had at least 4-5 inches of snow last night and with the full moon, it has slowed down fishing today.   Our houses  were moved to 25-28 feet of water for our guests that are coming in after Christmas.  There is now 20 inches of ice and we will be using the bombers soon too.  We will know more as our kids are going fishing on Christmas day, so hopefully they will have some good action.
Merry Christmas to all!!  We will be back for a report on Sunday the 26th.

Hi, it's Dec. 17,2010
This week has seen some ups and downs in the fishing.  The weather last weekend was below zero and it really slowed the fishing down.  Tuesday, fishing picked up and Wed and Thurs. there were good size and numbers being caught.  There were several big slot fish caught and released.   A 28 in.  9lb, 6oz. walleye was caught Wednesday.  One good thing with the cold weather and no snow on the lake, we are building ice fast.  We have about 17-18 inches of good ice.  There are some cracks closer to shore, that you have to watch when you cross.  Vehicle traffic has started to show up on the lake,  Adrian's opened their road yesterday,  and Morris Point will be opening soon.  Stay in touch with local resorts for further info.
Look for fishing report after the weekend.  Happy Holidays!!!
This is dedicated to Stephen  Meyer.
Stay safe  and good luck fishing!!

Good morning!!
December 9, 2010
We had our first fishermen in our houses yesterday and the bite was good.  The 8 of them  from Sleepy Eye, brought in 46 walleye and sauger.  A lot of 19 in walleye and threw back a lot of small sauger.  They released a 20 in, 21 in, and a 24 in slot fish.   Our first day turned out to be pretty good.  Yesterday they fished in 19 feet of water and today they went out to 23 feet.
Ice conditions have improved.  Bostic Bay has 10-14 inches on it.  The lake has anywhere from 10-12 inches of good clear ice.
Northern fishing has been good also, either being speared or angled.  The access to the spear grounds is good by using 4-wheeler.
4-wheeler and snowmobile access is good on the creek and the lake.
Watch for tomorrow's report.  Good luck fishing!!  Be Safe!!
Bob (aka  Bobber) and Wanda

December 4, 2010
Ice conditions have really changed the last couple of days.  Bob and Dusty started from our crossing and staked the entire trail from the landing up to 25 feet of water on the lake, checking ice depth and conditions as they went along.  Bostic Creek has been flooded over, but for most part has froze fairly well.   Bostic has anywhere from 7-14 inches on it, with a couple of slush holes that should freeze in the next day or two.  Thanks to a big back hoe, we were able to knock down the heavy ice and 5-6 feet of snow that was built up on the  bomber crossing.  We now can start pulling houses.
The first 300 yds. on lake was blown in rough ice with a fair amount of snow on it and this has about 8 inches of ice.  Thanks to the help of Grant Walton of Randall's Resort and our dedicated help, we were able to break down a trail on the lake.   It is rough, but will get better with time.  After the rough ice, it is clear and smooth, starting at about 19 feet of water and has about 9-10 inches of solid, clear ice with no snow cover at all.
We are moving houses to the lake on Monday and starting to fish on Wednesday.  The fish should be snapping and  should be a great start to the winter fishing!!
We have a couple of cabins open next weekend, call for availability.
Check Monday for our updated report on ice conditions and progress on fishing reports.
There are portables on the lake fishing.  Happy Fishing!!   Stay safe!!
Thanks,
Bob and Wanda

HI, where has the summer gone,  what an unbelievable fishing season it has been this summer on Lake of the Woods.  Fishing continues to be good in 34-36 ft of water on the mud flats out from Morris Pt. gap and Pine Island.  We are anchored and jigging with gold jigs, and frozen shiners and leeches.  Also drifting or trolling in the deep water with spinners using leeches and night crawlers.  Fish have been biting off of Zippel Bay in 18-25 ft with spinners and minnows.  Down rigging also remains excellent in 29-36 feet with shad raps, wally divers and junior thunder sticks.  Charter boats and private boats continue to head North to Garden, Massacre, and Little Massacre Islands fishing the rocks, reefs and rubble with spinners and night crawlers and having fantastic walleye fishing.  The weather is great, so book your fall fishing trip now.  Go to our website and look for fall lodging specials.  Talk to you soon!!!

Sunday, MAY 23,  2010
Hi, it is another beautiful day for fishing or relaxing on Lake of the Woods.  It has been  a fabulous fishing opener.  One of the nicest we have had.  The fishing is on fire.  Many nice fish up to the slot are being caught, as well as in the slot have been caught and released.  There are some nice sauger that have come in too.  The water levels are still low, we could use a little rain.  Enjoy the weather, drop a line or go for a boat ride.  Have a great day!

Hello, Today is Wednesday, May 12, 2010
It is overcast today, though we are not expected to get any rain.  It it only a few days from the walleye fishing opener and the weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend, possibly flirting with 80 degrees.  The ice has been off the lake since mid-April.  We have had an early spring with the warm temps.  It is nice to have leaves on the trees in May.  Though it has been cool the last couple of weeks, we are expecting great fishing!!!  The water levels this year are extremely low, and we have marked our channel, everything should be ok if you stay on the channel and take your time.  We have openings for the opener and later in the season.  We have a special for cabin rates for Memorial weekend,  (Thurs.-Sun.) $30.00/person,  give us a call.   Watch for upcoming reports as the season begins.
Thanks, talk to you soon.
Bob and Wanda

Hi, sorry for the delay, it is Tuesday, March 2, 2010
It is a beautiful day out.  Fishing this past weekend was spotty.   Some houses caught fish while others didn't do so well.  The weather looks like it will be stable through the weekend with hopefully not much snow in the forecast.  Our houses are still in 31-33 ft of water.  We hope fishing will pick up with the longer days.  Daylight savings time is just around the corner.  We still have openings for this weekend, but are full the rest of the month.  We do have mid-week openings and specials now until the end of March.  We will be at the NORTHWEST SPORT SHOW BOOTH #705 in Minneapolis at the Convention Center-starting Tuesday, March 23, 2010  at 1:00PM Come out and see us there!!  Talk to you soon.

Bob and Wanda

Hello, today is Monday, February 22, 2010
Fishing on Saturday and Sunday was fair.  A lot of small fish were caught as well as nice slot fish too.
Nate Knutson caught and released a 26 in. walleye. The Chapman party did well fishing--they released  24 in. and 25 in. walleyes.  Weather was great over the weekend, though we are looking at a couple of below zero nights coming up.  Hopefully the fishing will be good!!

Fishing for Friday, Feb. 19, 2010
After two really good days of fishing, the bite slowed down. The weather was warm, but overcast.  Our houses are still in 31-33 ft of water.   Our guests caught enough to eat, but still slower than it had been.  We still have a few openings for next weekend.  Give us a call.  Until tomorrow!
Bob and Wanda

Good morning!  Fishing for February 17 and 18
-The weather was great these two days, sunny and warm.  The fishing really turned on, with limits of walleyes and saugers in the 1-2lb. range.  Jon Maas caught and released a 24 in walleye.  Our guests sorted through a lot of small fish and several nice perch were caught.

-Hello, it's Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010
Fishing was slow over the Presidents weekend.  The Ross family caught several fish.  They kept 9 for the day. Their 6 year old daughter caught a beautiful perch, though she liked shooting deer on the deer hunter game in the lodge.

Monday and Tuesday the weather has been stable, but windy on Mon.  Thun group had some action in one of the houses, though the bite was slow.  They caught enough for dinner.  Hopefully with the stable weather fishing will improve.  Check for further updates further in the week.

We have availability for the weekend.  Give us a call.  Good luck fishing!!

Welcome to our Brand New Online Fishing Report!

Fishing on Friday and Saturday was fair, as the  weather conditions were changing.  We had around 4 inches of fresh snow.  Temps were around 20.  There have been a lot of small fish being caught, providing plenty of action though.  Our guests have had plenty of fish to eat.  Our houses are about 7-71/2 miles out on lake in approxiamately 32-33 feet of water.  We have had some beautiful perch caught this weekend.

The weather looks good the rest of the week, so fishing should get back on track.  We are moving fish houses tomorrow further north.   Check to see how fishing is Tuesday.

Good Morning it's Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010

Fishing was slower yesterday,  Bob and the guys moved houses a little further north and some houses shallower into 29 feet, hoping to see if fish are moving closer to shore.  The weather was -21 degrees (brr..)  and tomorrow supposed to be the same.  It is supposed to warm up after that.  Hopefully we will get some stable weather to improve the fishing.  Some nice perch and walleye are being caught, small saugers too.  We will see what today brings when the Kurth family and Acme tool crib
group come in from their day of fishing.  Until tomorrow,  stay warm and happy fishing!!!

Good Morning!  It's Thursday, Feb 11, 2010
Fishing picked up yesterday, we had a lot of action.  Maybe the cold weather helped the fish to bite.  Our houses are in 30-32 feet of  water.  Ken Kurth caught and kept a 28 1/2 inch walleye.  The biggest one he has caught here in his ten years coming to Ken-Mar-Ke.   He waited a long time for a wall mount.  His brother, Mark, caught a 30 inch walleye last year and is now on his wall at home. They were exctied!!  There were still some nice perch being caught too.  Rich Humeniuk, of Baudette, caught and released a 24 inch walleye yesterday too.   Talk to you again tomorrow!  Good luck fishing!!!
